Long-distance move from Reno, NV to Austin, TX

They are lying to you

Worst company ever. They charged us 2000K more saying that our cubic feet are higher than their video estimate. And after that we get info from from Budget (the company leasing them trucks) for the capacity of the truck, we found out that they over charged us 450 Cf more. Because the truck capacity is max 1600 cf and Our stuff only took 70% of that space (30% was another person’s stuff already in the truck). They charged us for more than the truck can hold! Even though it wasn’t all our stuff! They lied to us and cheated us. They broke our stuff and they used most expensive boxes for just to increase prices. They took advantage of our situation and they did not behave ethically or professionally. Do not ever choose their company.

I have a lot of dishes,  glass table, big bad (need a lot of tools) . Shortly: they packed and moved stuff carefully and with no damage . Very happy with there services, thank you guys! Worst Experience - AZ Moving.

DO NOT USE AZ MOVING. My move day was one of the worst experiences of my life.   I called 2 weeks before my move and was quoted $180 for the first two hours then $79 for each additional hour, this was on the contingent that I paid cash. I was immediately called back and told that it would be an additional $20 gas fee because my move to location was so far outside the city. At the time I had no problem with this. My move was scheduled between 12-2pm. At the booking time I expressed my concern about traffic because I was going to move from the City to the suburbs which on a normal traffic day takes over an hour, but during rush hour can take two hours or more. The man I spoke with on the phone (Dastan Miller) assured me that it wouldn't be an issue. He e-mailed me a quote and also let me know that someone would contact me the day before to confirm my move.   The day before I called them after 5pm when I had not heard from them all day. I left a message. Dastan did eventually call me to confirm. Shortly after I received another call from someone else from the company to set-up my move. Apparently they didn't even bother to listen to my message because they thought I was a new client.   The day of my move. I had everything ready to go by my 12pm time and did not hear from the driver until after 2pm. At that point he told me that they were running late because of traffic. I asked him when he thought he would arrive, he told me 20 minutes. An hour later they arrived. When they pulled into the alley behind my apartment they hit the balcony of the apartment next door. They were worried about the damage done to their truck. I was really starting to get worried about traffic leaving the city. The driver came up to do the estimate and the other guy started moving boxes.    While the driver was writing up the contract I received a call from Dastan. He told me that he gave me the wrong base price. Because I was moving so far away (aprox 40 miles) the base price would be $280 (which is $100 more than he originally quoted me). Our whole conversation was ridiculous and he told me that he had another client only 15 minutes away. I told him that a bunch of my stuff was already loaded on the truck. He said it was no problem for them to move the stuff back into my apartment. At this point I was livid. I needed to be out of my apartment and didn't think I would be able to find last minute movers over the weekend. I expressed my dissatisfaction over the fact that the movers were also an hour late which would cause us to be stuck in rush hour traffic. He said it would be fine for his men to leave.    If I felt I had any other choice I would have let them leave. I feel like I was totally taken advantage of. I had a quote from them for what I felt was a fair price. I would have never agreed to the price he raised it to in the first place. Only shady, unethical business people work like this.    I am also going to make sure I report them to the IRS since I paid in cash. If I ever see any of their business cards I'll make sure to grab them all and burn them.   The men who moved were nice and did make every effort to protect my belongings. But I would agree with other reviews who stated that they are slow. When I moved into this apartment it took 4 hours from point A to point B (which includes travel time). This move took almost 6 hours, they took almost 2 hours just to load my one-bedroom apartment. And I'm still furious that we spent 2 hours in traffic because they were so late.   If you value your sanity do not use AZ Moving.

Stay Away!

STAY AWAY FROM A-Z MOVING!
In our initial consultation, the "manager" Kevin told us that A-Z was insured and that our move would be a "flat rate" with no hidden charges. When the movers showed up we were then told that there would be an additional $150 charge to insure our goods against breakage. We obviously opted out of this, as it was not what we had agreed to. The movers proceeded to break the frame of our $800 bed. I was then told to file a claim with the A-Z office. For the next two weeks Kevin ducked my half-dozen calls (work and cell) and two visits to the A-Z office. Our move was a two part arrangement, and only when I refused to pay the balance due at the end of the second move was the mover able to get Kevin on the phone. Kevin agreed to credit us 60 cents per pound for the damaged bed (after initially offering 30 cents per pound) and said that had we paid for the additional insurance there would have been a $1,000 deductible anyway, still leaving us in the same position. So..we got $120 credit (200 lb bed frame) for our $800 bed.
Obviously, we would NEVER hire A-Z again. Lesson learned and I only hope that this review will warn others to stay away from these hucksters.

Late and charges more for using a credit card.

The movers were 1.5 hours late and the 3rd mover didn't show up until 2 hours later! At the end of the move, they told me they had to charge me more than the estimate because I was paying by credit card instead of cash. This is going against their credit card/merchant agreement. They are not supposed to charge more for using cash. The movers would not honor the estimate and did not leave until I paid the high amount. I would NEVER use this company again!! BEWARE!!

Bad experience.

I have to move again and this brought back my memories of last year's move with AZ moving (and the lessons learned). Move date: August 17, 2011.

First lesson: don't go for the hourly rates movers (unless you have a really small move). You will get screwed.

I had a 1200 sq ft loft apartment that needed to be moved. I had a fixed quote for 900 from another company but decided to go for AZ moving that said they could do it for $800 but with an hourly rate. We discussed they would bring a large truck.
The moving day comes and they show up with a small truck. It is too small to fit my things, I can see that in advance. But I need to move, cancelled my lease so back against the wall. Decided to move and sign the papers. They start packing and after a few hours the truck is full and apartment still has stuff in it.
We go to the new address and unpack. Then they disappear for lunch for 1.5 hrs (don't pick up my calls, clock is still running).
Start on my second trip. Takes longer to pack somehow, guys are taking it easy.
Move to new apartment. At the end of the trip, my antique cabinet is damaged (they dropped it of the dolly while I was watching. Comment: "oh you can glue that." In addition, a picture frame cracked (glass) and a scratch on my 1 yr old leather couch (comment: that was there already).
Then the final bill. A whopping $1600.

Second lesson: The tip
But we are not done. Now comes the grand finale. The foreman starts hassling me for a tip of $100 each person (4 guys). I told him that he doubled my charge, but his reply was "that is the company, not us. We worked hard for you".  He got very angry and started yelling. In the end I still gave them $200 (which I intended anyway) but in retrospect I should have returned his nasty behavior by not giving anything at all.
I now understand by some further research the tip should be 15-20%. But if something breaks or damages, reduce the tip.

I decided on this one to bite the bullet and move on. But while now looking for a new moving company and reading the reviews, I came to the conclusion that I should write a review to warn others.

Stay away from this company. There are much better out there and it won't leave you with a nasty taste.

Mark.

Moving Thieves.

A-Z Movers are scam artists. Like the other reviewer, my move did not start on the best foot.  Despite multiple confirmations, my movers did not arrive until after 2pm despite an 8am start time.  I was quoted for approximately a two hour move as I was only moving to the other side of the neighborhood and my apartment was well-organized, fully packed and did not require heavy lifting. Our time ran over but I was more worried about care and reliability than haste.  Needless to say, I was chagrined to see my bicycle carelessly thrown on my couch which also suffered a nick in the frame from the bicycle pedal.  Given that everything else appeared normal, I was willing to overlook this. As we wrapped up business, I was mostly satisfied until I produced my credit card to pay the remaining balance per our agreement. After a discussion with the office, I was told my belongings WOULD NOT be removed from the truck until I tendered cash. I reminded the movers of our agreement, they said they were acting on orders and would depart unless I came up with the money.  Furthermore, they specifically instructed me to leave on foot and visit an ATM machine as they blocked my vehicle in the storage space with the moving van.  By the time, the movers pulled out of the lot with extorted cash in hand, it was 7pm.  The two hour move took a total of five including the shakedown. I phoned afterwards to discuss these business practices and I was told "tough luck." Upon unpacking later that eveing, specific items that I had packed were missing. While I didn't see with my own eyes the removal of these items, I think it's a reasonable accusation that the movers stole them. A-Z Movers operates unethically, unreliably, unprofessionally and quite possibly criminally.  Trust your valuables and your home with reputable movers and avoid A-Z at all costs.

Highly recommended.

Fabulous moving experience.  Super polite - friendly, but extremely hard working.  Job was done in less time than estimated and price was significantly lower than quoted.  Nothing broken. What more can you ask for? I would definitely use them again.
